In Which Visitors Arrive and Conversations Bloom
A busy day today, and a beautiful one. The kind of weather that usually brings the whole town out, though the morning was surprisingly quiet. Kris’s kids, Elise and Joshuah, came down to visit, and she ducked out for lunch with them while I held the fort.
Naturally, the moment she left, the shop decided it was time for action.
A flurry of customers came in all at once, as though they’d been waiting politely around the corner. We sold t-shirts, candles, and various bits and pieces to families who drifted through, curious and cheerful.
We also had a wonderful visit from S.K. Neilson, author of Singing Down the Sky. She brought in her books - always an exciting moment - and stayed for a long, lovely chat about the publishing industry, writing, indie pathways, and everything in between. She left with two candles and a smile, and the shop has already warmed to her.
It felt like the kind of day that grows in unexpected directions - a tentative beginning, then suddenly full of stories.
